2019 Fall Semester Fitness Class Schedule 

 

Classes in the Yoga/Dance Room, 2nd floor of the Alfond Athletic Center. Bring a towel and a water bottle to class. Classes are free to all members of the Colby Community. All classes are one hour and are in the Yoga/Dance Room unless noted.

 

Mon., 12:00 p.m.                                            Power Yoga

This class is held at either the squash courts or the yoga room in the Colby Athletic Center. Power Yoga is a fitness based Vinyasa practice. An offshoot of Ashtanga yoga, it has many of the same qualities and benefits, including building internal heat, increased stamina, strength, and flexibility, as well as stress reduction. Bring a water bottle and small towel.

 

Mon., 4:30 p.m.                                              Tabata

Tabata Tabata is high intensity interval training, designed to keep your heart rate up. Lifting weights with cardio in between. Bring a water bottle and be ready to go!

 

Tue., 12:00 p.m.                                             Hatha Yoga Flow

Hatha Yoga Flow A flow style Vinyasa class that connects breath with movement. Prior yoga experience is recommended, but all levels are welcome, as modifications will be offered.

 

Tue., 5:30 p.m.                                                Circuit Training

Circuit Training Focusing on core training and strength development with cardio intermixed to keep your heart rate up to maximize your workout!! Bring a water bottle!

 

Wed., 12:0 p.m.                                               SmartFLOW Yoga

SmartFLOW Yoga Smartflow Yoga celebrates the innate intelligence of mindful, flowing movement and the centering gifts of stillness. This training couples classical yoga, with its rigor and discipline, and the modernity of anatomy and fluid transitions.

 

Wed. 3:30 p.m.                                                Gentle Yoga                                                    

Gentle Yoga Classes are typically appropriate for those who want a softer, nurturing, slow-paced, well-supported and relaxing practice.

 

Thur., 12:00 p.m.                                             PiYoLIVE

PiYo LIVE PiYoLIVE combines the muscle-sculpting, core-firming benefits of Pilates with the strength and flexibility advantages of yoga. We crank up the speed to deliver a true fat-burning, low impact workout that leaves your body looking long, lean and incredibly defined.  The perfect class for those who love the sweat and burn of circuit training, but know they need the flexibility and mobility of yoga.

 

Fri. 12 p.m.                                                      Gentle Yoga                                                    

Gentle Yoga Classes are typically appropriate for those who want a softer, nurturing, slow-paced, well-supported and relaxing practice.

 

LIVE or Work Downtown? Wrap up your day with Ashtanga Yoga at @5:30 p.m. at the Bill & Joan Alfond Main Street Commons Aerobic Room. You will focus on the standing portion of the Ashtanga Sequence. Ashtanga uses a set sequence, which facilitates self practice. Rooted in the breath, Ashtanga builds core strength, flexibility, and balance.
