MacDonald earns second award, makes national team of the week

WATERVILLE, Maine -- Colby College's Cam MacDonald (Westford, Mass.) earned his second honor of the week after being named to the National Men's Team of the Week on Tuesday.

MacDonald, who had seven points in two New England Small College Athletic Conference games, was honored as the NESCAC Men's Hockey Player of the Week on Monday.
MacDonald was one of six players to be named to the team. He was a forward along with Concordia-Moorhead's Mario Bianchi and Oswego State's Mitch Herlihey. The goaltender honored was Hobart's Alex Connal and the two defenders were St. Scholastica's Mark Whiteley and University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth's Jerry Laakso.

MacDonald had four goals and three assists in a 7-3 victory over Tufts University and a 2-0 win against Connecticut College. He had a collegiate-high four goals and dished two assists to have six points on the seven goals against Tufts. In a tighter game against the Camels, MacDonald had an assist on Colby's second goal.

MacDonald ranks first in the NESCAC in overall scoring (7 goals, 5 assists) and first in conference game scoring (5 goals, 5 assists). He ranks 10th in Division III in goals per game and 20th in points.
MacDonald, the son of head coach Blaise MacDonald, has 24 goals and 39 assists for 63 career points. He has helped the 15th-ranked Mules to a 6-2 overall record and a 5-1 mark in the league after the first semester of play. m-of-the-week/men/2017-18/dec- 12
