Goals pile up, Mules blank Husson 7-0

Waterville, Maine - First years Kerrie Verbeek and Ellie Hankin each scored two goals to lead the Colby College Women's Soccer team to a non-conference win over visiting Husson University Tuesday afternoon.

The scoring opportunities piled up early and often for the Mules, as the first goal came six minutes in off the foot of Verbeek, assisted by Olivia Siegel.  Verbeek added her second 15 mintues later off an assist by Caitlin Parks.  Sandwiched in between the two Verbeek scores was a Kara Wilson goal from well outside the 18.  Colby entered the half up 3-0 and hadn't given up a shot on goal in the entire half.

The next 45 minutes brought more of the same, this time Hankin (pictured) was the popular named called out by the announcer. Her first goal came at the 52-minute mark (assisted by Parks) and then she struck again with three minutes remaining in the contest (assisted by Hallie Schwartzman).  Two Colby goals came in between, one by Alessandra Marciano (assisted by Wilson), and the other by Segal assisted by Schwartzman.  In all, Colby got off 43 shots in the contest to just one by Husson.

The Mules improve to 4-4-2 while Husson falls to 3-5.

Colby next plays on Saturday when they head to Middlebury for an 11:00 AM contest.
