Mules end Ohio road trip with close matches against Baldwin Wallace, Oberlin

WOOSTER, Ohio – Colby volleyball finished their Ohio road trip with matches against Baldwin Wallace and Oberlin College. Although Colby played both teams, and especially Oberlin, competitively, the Mules ultimately fell short, losing 3-0 and 3-1 respectively.

Colby played a close first game against Baldwin Wallace, keeping pace with the Yellow Jackets through 25 points. BWU went on a run, however, and took the first game 25-18. The Yellow Jackets won each of the next two games 25-11 for a 3-0 win. Elizabeth Middlebrook led the Mules in both kills and kill percentage with seven kills and a 0.107 K%. Middlebrooks anchored the defense as well, leading the team with 11 digs. Setter Morgan Selby notched 16 assists and nine digs during the match.

The Mules played their final match of the weekend against Oberlin College. Colby played the Yeomen closely, losing the first game 25-21 but taking the second 25-23. The two teams continued to play each other evenly for the remainder of the match but Oberlin eventually came out ahead, winning the last two games 25-22 and 25-19, respectively. Outside hitter Elisabeth Middlebrooks led the team with 10 kills and Natalie Simonton and Natalie Bumpus each impressed with eight kills apiece and kill percentages above .250. Setter Morgan Selby totaled 31 assists, while Middlebrooks again led the team with 21 digs.

The Mules, now 3-4 on the season, come back home for the next game. They will take on UNE on Tuesday, September 17th at 6:30 PM (EST).
